Richard P. McLaughlin focuses on business law and litigation, construction law and non profit corporation law.
Born in Youngstown, Ohio, he attended local schools and graduated with honors from Youngstown State University in 1958. He received his law degree in 1962 and his Master of Laws degree in 1964, both from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar, the District of Columbia Bar and the U.S. Supreme Court.
McLaughlin practiced business law and government regulatory law with a Washington, D.C. law firm until 1968, when he was appointed General Counsel of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. He returned home and waged unsuccessful campaigns for the U.S. Congress in 1970 and 1972. In 1970, he organized McLaughlin and McNally, the law firm which he headed until its merger with Roth, Blair, Roberts, Strasfeld & Lodge on January 1, 2008.
Richard and his wife, Betty, a retired drug and alcohol counselor, have four adult children and fourteen grandchildren.
