James E. “Ted” Roberts of counsel

Admitted to Bar 1974

After graduating from The University of Akron School of Law in 1974, Ted began with his father in the general practice of law. Roberts & Roberts merged with Roth, Stephens & Blair in 1990 to form Roth, Blair, Roberts, Strasfeld & Lodge.

Atty. Roberts concentrates now on school law, business law, public and private sector employment law and real estate law (including condominiums). He has considerable experience with education law as counsel to various school districts. As a limited-service instructor he has taught graduate courses in school law and collective bargaining in the School of Education at Youngstown State University.

Ted is extensively involved in the profession and his community, having served in such organizations as the Akron Law School Alumni Association (past trustee and president); Executive Committee and Chairman of the Ohio Council of School Board Attorneys; Trustee of Stambaugh Auditorium Association; Director and President (1999 and 2000) of The Visiting Nurse Association; as well as the YMCA, Rotary, March of Dimes, American Heart Association, Trinity United Methodist Church (trustee and past president) and The Youngstown Club (past president and trustee).

Atty. Roberts actively served the Ohio State Bar Association as a member of its Board of Governors (2008-2011), as a member of its Council of Delegates, and chair (2002/2006) of The Committee for an Independent Judiciary. He was the 2001/2002 President of The Mahoning County Bar Association and served as a Trustee for 17 years. He was a member of The Ohio Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education. From 2013 to 2022 Ted is serving as a Trustee of Youngstown State University.

He and his wife Cynthia, a certified public accountant, live in Poland, Ohio.
